Online course on international development

"What Works: Promising Practices in International Development" highlights stories of programs, case studies, and events that can be considered “successes” in improving the well-being of the poor and contributing to overall societal progress.

This free, open online course explores the domains of agriculture, public health, good governance and institutional reform, and poverty reduction. They also consider issues such as the human rights-based approach to development.

The course is taught by an interdisciplinary group of researchers and development specialists based at University of Oslo, Stanford University, University of Malawi, China Agricultural University and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), who shed light on promising practices in a variety of development-related fields.

Participants are equipped with a toolkit to examine interventions critically and to recognize successful development strategies and how they can be deployed in a broad range of international contexts.
