On April 5th, the World Bank Board of Directors voted to elect Treasury Undersecretary for International Affairs David Malpass as President of the World Bank Group.

The former World Bank President Jim Yong Kim announced his resignation earlier this year.

During his interviews with shareholders – including Denmark and the other Nordic and Baltic countries – David Malpass committed himself to implement the policies outlined by the member states on eliminating poverty and supporting shared prosperity as well as protecting the climate and fostering gender equality, as laid down in the various strategic documents approved by the member states. David Malpass has stated that, with him as President, the World Bank will make a large contribution to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Climate Change Agenda in close partnership with member states and other multilateral institutions.
