COPE Socials: Climate Change, Migration and the Risk of Conflict

The Copenhagen Center for Disaster Research (COPE) is continuing its monthly networking events. There will be cheap cocktails at student/disaster-interested-friendly prices, spirited discussions and some COPE-sponsored snacks. For each meeting, we will invite someone to talk for approximately 30 minutes, followed by a 15 minute Q&A. That’s it. Interesting people, cocktails and disaster and humanitarian related discussions.

The risk of violent conflict and  mass migration are often presented as consequences of climate change. But what does research tell us, and what determines whether these risks will become reality?

Speaker: Johan Schaar, Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Sweden
