Aim

The Global Development Network's Student Travel Grant aims to support and encourage field work conducted in low- and middle- income contexts. Field work is believed to be crucial for knowledge production and sharing research related to the global sustainable development agenda.

Who can apply?

  • Bachelor and Master students enrolled at University of Copenhagen
  • The field work must be ECTS credit bearing
  • The field work must be related to an independent project including data collection (e.g. Bachelor or Master’s thesis). Please note that you can also apply as a group, but the stipend will be shared among the participants. Also please note that attending field courses does not apply for this travel grant.  
  • Funding must be used for upcoming field work to be conducted in low- and middle- income contexts within 12 months after granting.

Assessment criteria

  • Relevance to global development and location of field work
  • Outreach and dissemination of project
  • Multi-disciplinarity

How to apply?

Send a motivated application of max 500 words – including: a) aim of the project b) country where field work will be conducted c) planned time schedule d) programme/discipline and year at UCPH e) tentative budget.

Application deadline is May 1st, 2024 and must be sent to: development@adm.ku.dk

Applications are assessed every year in mid-May 

Format

Student Travel Grants are given once a year around June. In total of minimum five grants of 10,000 DKK. B-income. The assessment committee consists of a representative from the GDN board and the GDN International Coordinator.  

Reporting obligations

  • Short report/resume/abstract of field work and/or research project to be published on GDN social media.
  • Short film spot: Self-filming from the field work to be published on GDN social media. GDN will facilitate editing and layout.
